Basic AR
- Safety review, four cardinal firearms safety rules and CCGCI range rules.
- Medical; location and explanation of kits (boo-boo kit, trauma kit) and protocols if an accident occurs.
- Explanation of the parts and nomenclature of the AR as well as its functioning/mechanics.
- Rough zero for the class, use of optics and sights as well as explanation of height over bore with regards to shot placement.
- Dry fire drills to go over manipulation of the AR fire controls and safety switch as well as loading/reloading the AR (all dry)
- Going hot on the range, 10 yards form target (s), drills from low ready to include:
1. Standard response: controlled pair and hammered pair to COM
2. Non-standard response: three or more shots (usually 3, 4 or 5) to COM
3. Failure to stop; two shots Com then transition to head, wait a moment and third shot to the head.
4. Depending on student experience (and number of students) added drills can be used such as a Bill Drill (from low ready, six shots COM as quick and safe as the trigger can be pressed).
Intermediate AR
- REVIEW - Safety review, four cardinal firearms safety rules and CCGCI range rules.
- REVIEW - Medical; location and explanation of kits (boo-boo kit, trauma kit) and protocols if an accident occurs.
- REVIEW - Explanation of the parts and nomenclature of the AR as well as its functioning/mechanics.
- RIFLE SHOULD ALREADY BE ZEROED AFTER TAKING BASIC AR.
- REVIEW - Dry fire drills to go over manipulation of the AR fire controls and safety switch as well as loading/reloading the AR (all dry) AND INCORPORATE MALFUNCTIONS/CLEARING
- Different shooting positions (kneeling) as well as shooting from behind cover.
- Review Low ready position and add high ready as well as compressed ready
- Going hot on the range, 10 yards form target (s), drills from low ready, high ready and compressed ready to include (and using shot timer):
4. Bill Drill (from low ready, high ready and compressed ready, six shots COM as quick and safe as the trigger can be pressed).
5. Multiple target engagement – El Prez Drill
6. Index card drill if time permits.
Using Shot Marker Electronic Target System(Your ammo MUST be supersonic at the 1,000 yd targets)

Rifles Permitted: 3.1(Service Rifle), 3.2 (Any Rifle), 3.3(NRA Match/Palma Rifle), 3.3.3 (Tactical AR), or 3.4 (F-class) in Matches 1-4.
Muzzle brakes, compensators, suppressors and barrel tuners are prohibited.
Registration: 8:00 to 8:30. First shot downrange at 9:00 am. Match 1: 600 yards, Slow Fire, Prone, Unlimited sighters and 20 record shots, 25 min. block time Match 2: 600 yards, Slow Fire, Prone, Unlimited sighters and 20 record shots, 25 min. block time Match 3: 600 yards, Slow Fire, Prone, Unlimited sighters and 20 record shots, 25 min. block time Match 4: Aggregate of Matches 1-3
*Shooter must declare when record shots will start by stating clearly "going for record".

NRA Across the Course (XTC) Highpower Rifle Competition, shooters compete with either a Service Rifle or a Match Rifle. The Service Rifle division is limited to either the M1, M14, M16, M110 or their commercial equivalents such as an AR15, AR10 or M1A.
