Defensive Shotgun 1

Open to CCGC members only 

This short course will serve as an introduction to fundamental shotgun skills and the application of those skills to defensive shotgun shooting.  After completion of the course students will understand the defensive mind-set and basic manipulation skills for the defensive shotgun.  The main objectives for the course are to provide a safe environment where students can develop their skills, learn how to manage recoil and gain both confidence and proficiency.  No previous shotgun shooting experience is required, however an open mind is essential to maximize benefit from the instruction.

Required Gear for Defensive Shotgun

• 12GA or 20GA pump-action or semi-auto shotgun (e.g., Remington 870/1100, Mossberg 500/590, Beretta 1301/A300, Benelli M4, etc.)
• Eye and ear protection.
• 100 rounds of birdshot (7½, 8 or 9 shot) NO STEEL SHOT ALLOWED
• 10 rounds of buckshot (e.g., 00)
• 5 slug rounds
• Sturdy shoes
• Climate appropriate clothing
• Hat with visor
• Sunscreen (as required)
•  Lunch, snacks and drinks (no refrigeration is available on the range)
• Positive attitude and an open mind

• Gun mounted ammo holder
