You’ve taken the CCGCI Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Pistol classes as well as Basic and Intermediate AR class at CCGCI or you can demonstrate safety and proficiency shooting from the draw as well as working both firearm platforms. Now it’s time to up the game and push you a bit more, this class will cover transition drills form rifle to pistol and back form pistol to rifle malfunction clearances-failure drills as well, shooting from different positions including kneeling and from behind cover as well as shooting and moving. Additionally, this class will go over shooting strong hand/side only and support hand/side only. Timed drills will also be added to what you’ll cover. All this with the goal of not only helping you improve your skills, but to set you up for further training and as preparation (or added training) for the range two-gun matches

Class will cover at a minimum:

- Safety review, four cardinal firearms safety rules and CCGCI range rules.

- Medical; location and explanation of kits (boo-boo kit, trauma kit) and protocols if an accident occurs.

- Rough zero for the class, use of optics and sights as well as explanation of height over bore with regards to shot placement.

- Dry fire drills to go over manipulation of both rifle and pistol as well as loading/reloading (all dry) then - Going hot on the range, starting at 10 yards from target (s), drills from low ready to include:

1. Standard response: controlled pair and hammered pair to COM

2. Non-standard response: three or more shots (usually 3, 4 or 5) to COM

3. Failure to stop; two shots Com then transition to head, wait a moment and third shot to the head.

4. Depending on student evaluation (and number of students) then moving to the advanced drill (Bill Drill with firearms transition from low ready, six shots COM as quick and safe as the trigger can be pressed).

5. Distance training from ten (10) and (15 yards) out to 50 yards with movement to different shooting stations and positions working transitions with firearms (drills run with shot timer).

Class gear requirements (FIREARMS AND MAGAZINES MUST BE UNLOADED AND IN A CASE PRIOR TO COMING INTO THE CLASS):

  • If all you have is a micro compact (S&W Bodyguard or Ruger LCP for example) please let the instructor know ahead of time to discuss its use and possible options.
  • Sturdy belt and appropriate holster that will securely hold your firearm – KYDEX PREFERRED - SERPA holsters and nylon holsters are not permitted.
  • Minimum of three magazines each for rifle and pistol – chest rig or plate carrier acceptable as well
  • Sling – properly mounted on your rifle and optic/backup sights.
